Well, Cappello is in place, and we are just over 24 hours away from a(nother) new dawn for the English national team. I was absolutely devasted on the very
dire november night when we were put to the sword by a much better organised Croatian team, but now the Italian is here I am now started to be filled with much
optimism (oh dear!). In many ways i am now glad we did not make Euro 2008. If we had managed to scrape through under the hapless Mclaren, and gone on to the
tournament where we would have no doubt stumbled out yet again in the quarter finals, all the same problems would still be there. After seeing Cappello's
1st press conference today i am massively impressed and really feel that he could bring together this team of undoubtedly skilled individuals, and also help
the complete re-organisation of English football that Trevor Brooking is promising. I can now also actually enjoy watching Euro 2008 without being bias towards
England.
On the subject of Euro 2008, who does everyone think they will support, if anyone, now we are not there?? I personally will be 100% behing the Dutch. I am a bit of an Ajax fan, and have long admired many aspects of Dutch football, from the total football days of Johan Cruyff, to the mindblowing conveyerbelt youth systems of the big clubs.
